Mr. Tuthill first joined the Shaker Regional School Board in 2002. His interest in joining the board stemmed from his belief that high quality public education for all students is the most vital part of our community's and state's infrastructure. As a board member, Mr. Tuthill has served on the Building and Grounds, Finance, Internal Policy, Negotiations and Transportation Committees. He was most recently elected to the board in March of 2008 and his current term will run until March of 2011. When asked to comment on his experience as a board members, Mr. Tuthill said, "I am tremendously impressed and gratified by the support the district receives from the citizens of Canterbury and Belmont. It is truly an honor to represent them on the Board." Mr. Tuthill's educational background includes an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering from the Vermont Technical College and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Vermont. He is half owner and president of Keymont Construction, a general construction firm specializing in water / wastewater treatment facilities and institutional swimming pools. His company operates primarily in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. Married with three daughters, Mr. Tuthill currently resides in Belmont.
Ms. Hutchinson was elected to a three year term during the March 2009 Annual School District Meeting. She is looking forward to working with the school district to improve the education of all students, to balance the need for lower level and more advanced courses and to keep all educational opprotunities open to all students. In her short time on the board, she has already accepted committee assignemnts with the Building and Grounds Committee, The Huot Technical Regional Advisory Council and the Wellness Advisory Committee. Ms. Hutchinson holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in computer programming. She is currently working towards her Masters of Education with certification in Biology. She has been employed by Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield for twenty-two years where she is a computer analyst in the ebusiness Informaton Technology Department. In her free time, Ms. Hutchinson is a floodplains tour guide volunteer for the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forest. Ms. Hutchinson lives in Cantebury. She has a son who attends Belmont High School and a daughter who attends Canterbury School.
Mrs. O'Hara, of Canterbury, was appointed in 2006 to her position by the members of the school board, following the resignation of a board member. She was then elected for a three year term at the March 2007 and 2010 Annual School District Meetings. She has served as the board liaison to the Strategic Planning Committee, as well as the Policy and Finance Committees. She has also served as Chariman. Her educational background includes A.B. in philosophy from Boston College and an M.ED. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is employed as the Director of Human Resources for the NH Community Loan Fund. Mrs. O'Hara resides in Canterbury with her husband and high school son. Her oldest son is currently studying at Boston College.
After completing a one year appointment to the board, Mr. Embree was elected for a new three year term in Since graduating from the Masters of Public Administration program at the University of New Hampshire, he has had a desire to serve the Shaker Regional community. Having a child in the district (third grade at Belmont Elementary School) has strengthened his commitment to ensuring quality educational practices in our schools and he feels that as a board member he can be an active participant in that process. Although new to the board, Mr. Embree has already expressed interest in joining both the Policy and Building & Grounds committees. In addition to his Master's Degree, Mr. Embree also holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from Keene State College in Applied Computer Science and Management. He is currently employed as the Director of Administrative Computers at UNH Manchester. He and his family have lived in Belmont for two years and during that time Mr. Embree has coached baseball, chaperoned for the Belmont Parks and Recreation ski program and co-directed the Belmont Elementary Basketball program with his wife. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his two sons and his wife
Mr. Reed is one of our two newest board members, elected to the board during the March 2011 School District Meeting. When asked why he decided to run for the SRSD School Board, Mr. Reed explained, "The father of my best friend in high school was a long serving school board member. I admired and respected him for his service to the community and I always wanted to serve as he did. With the political/ budgetary challenges we are facing locally and statewide, I decided to get involved. Parents, staff, administration, and school board should make every effort to work cooperatively to navigate the tough times ahead and provide the best education possible to the students of SRSD." As a member of the board, he will participate on the buildings and grounds, public policy and revolving funds committees. Mr. Reed holds a BS in Physical Science from Plymouth State College and has been a self-employed contractor since 1977. He also manages/maintains rental properties in the Lakes Region. His three children all graduated from Belmont High School and they each went on to earn a postsecondary degree. Outisde of work, Mr. Reed enjoys being the best granddad that he can to his two beautifyl granddaughters.
