Statement of Purpose

It is important to recognize that professional development is more than meeting re-certification requirements.  The primary purpose of the Professional Development Master Plan of the Shaker Regional School District is to create a framework that enables administrators, teachers and paraprofessional staff members to improve the learning experiences of all students. The focus of this plan is the professional growth of the educator, who will establish goals through both self-assessment and collaboration within the context of district and school goals.  It was vital to the Professional Development Committee (PDC) to create a process that ensures:

1.      The advancement of student learning

2.      A wide variety of professional development opportunities for all educators

3.      Alignment with our Shaker Regional Strategic Plan

4.      The necessary requirements for educator re-certification are met
