The Shaker Regional School District is proud to recognize
the following acheivements:

 

BHS Assistant Principal Dan Clary
awarded NH Assistant Principal Of the Year

The Assistant Principal of the Year award is given by the New Hampshire Association of Principals. This year, there were approximately 20 candidates for this award which was narrowed down to four finalists.

Mr. Clary was nominated by principal, Russ Holden. Of all of the candidates, Dan was named one of four finalists last month, and a committee visited the school and spoke with students, faculty, school board members, and parents.

Mr. Clary received the award on Januray 12, 2010 at the NH Association of Principals conference. Govenor John Lynch presented him with the award. He will be recognized again in June at the NH EDies awards ceremony, and he is in the running for National Assistant Principal of the year.


Congratulations to BHS Math Teacher Scott Currier
2009 Fernand J.Prevost Mathematics Teaching Award Recipient

The Fernand J. Prevost Mathematics Teaching Award is presented by the
tNew Hampshire Teachers of Math to a beginning teacher in her/his first, second, or third year who meets the following criteria:

  • commitment to good mathematics
  • confidence that children can learn
  • a spirit of self reflection and professional curiosity
  • caring and concern for colleagues
  • a willingness to explore, to learn, and to grow as a teacher of mathematics
  • a willingness to share mathematical and pedagogical activities with others

Mr. Currier will receive a plaque of achievement, a $100 prize and a year's membership to NHTM. The presentation of the award was made at the NHTM Spring Conference.


Terry Minogue, CES fourth grade teacher, was recently honored as a national winner of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. 

This award is presented annually to the best pre-college level science and math teachers from across the country.  The winners are selected by a panel of distinguished scientists, mathematicians and educators following an initial selection process done at the state level.

Terry will receive $10,000 from the National Science Foundation to be used at her discretion.  She will also receive an expense-paid trip to Washington, DC for a White House awards ceremony and several days of educational and celbratory events, including visits with members of Congress and science agency leaders.

Congratulations to Belmont High School Students Amanda Berger, Tim Gurshin and Andrew Norkiewicz who were selected to attend the 2009 summer St. Paul's Advanced Studies Program.

 

Belmont Elementary School was recently presented with the NH Partners in Education Blue Ribbon for school volunteerism for the 24th consecutive year.
