The Shaker Regional School District takes great pride in helping every child meet with success in our schools. It is our expectation that parents and faculty will work closely to provide the programs and services necessary for a comprehensive education, as well as the support needed to meet our academic standards. The Shaker Regional School District Educational Resource Team (ERT) is a multi-disciplinary group of educational professionals which act on behalf of the School District to make decisions regarding the identification, evaluation, diagnosis, and Special Education program of educationally handicapped students. The team carries out its activities in accordance with the procedures specified in the New Hampshire Standards for the Education of Handicapped Students and Shaker Regional School District policies. For the children identified as educationally handicapped, Shaker Regional School District offers a wide variety of programs and related services. Our district ensures that, to the maximum extent appropriate, students with disabilities are educated with students who do not have disabilities. When students with educational disabilities participate in regular education classes or programs, the integrity and appropriateness of the curricula of the classes or programs shall be maintained for both the students with educational disabilities and the students who do not have educational disabilities. We make every effort to see that special classes, separate schooling, or other removal of students with disabilities from the regular educational environment occurs only when the nature or severity of the disability is such that education in regular classes with the use of supplementary aids and services cannot be achieved satisfactorily. For more information, inquiries should be directed to Tonyel Mitchell-Berry, Director of Student Services by phone (603) 267-9222 or by e-mail tmitchell-berry@shaker.k12.nh.us.
